Bold Upsell is priced by your Shopify plan, so a store on Shopify Advanced pays $74.99 a month for exactly the feature list a Basic store gets for $4.99, and checkout offers need Shopify Plus at $399.99 a month.

Lowest paid entry price per account a month, billed monthly, in USD, among the 51 e-commerce growth apps we have researched (read between 2026-08-19 and 2026-10-06). Only tools priced in the same unit and on the same billing are compared — not a market survey, and cheapest is not best.
Four plans, and you do not choose between them: each is named after a Shopify plan, so the app costs what your store's own Shopify plan dictates. Shopify Basic is $4.99 a month, Shopify Grow $24.99, Shopify Advanced $74.99 and Shopify Plus $399.99. Each carries a 7-day free trial. The feature list is the same on the first three: Smart AI upsell offers, cart page and cart drawer offers, custom cross-sells and 'true' upsells, funnel offers, post-purchase offers, free gift offers, subscription offers and a rewards announcement bar.
The Plus plan adds checkout offers, the only feature that appears on one card alone. The listing calls this flat-rate monthly pricing: nothing is metered on orders, views or the revenue the app generates. All charges are billed in USD, and recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.
Category context: E-commerce. Across the 38 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $19 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Bold Upsell’s entry price of $4.99 a month sits below that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

The 7-day trial is short for judging an upsell app. The reviews are mostly warm, but 50 of 594 are one- or two-star, and the recent ones are specific: add-to-cart and checkout rates down 70% after offers went live (January 2026), the app failing at its one job with support silent for days or weeks (edited October 2026), and the app stopping without notice (November 2025). The data access is wide, including viewing sensitive customer data and editing orders and discounts.
We have not run the app ourselves; this dossier is read from the listing and its reviews.
Shopify upsell app by Bold: AI-picked and manual upsells, cross-sells, order bumps, free gifts and subscription offers on product pages, cart and drawer and after purchase, with checkout offers for Shopify Plus stores and an AOV dashboard.

There is no upgrade decision to make inside the app. The four prices map onto Shopify's own plans, so a store on Basic pays $4.99 a month and a store on Advanced pays $74.99 for the same feature list. What moves you up is your Shopify plan, not your use of the app. That cuts both ways. A busy store that stays on Shopify Basic gets the whole app for $4.99, however many orders it pushes through, which is cheap next to upsell apps that charge by order count or by the revenue they generate.
A modest store that moved to Advanced for lower card fees or better reports pays fifteen times as much for the same upsells. The one real difference is checkout. Checkout offers appear only on the $399.99 Plus card, which matches Shopify's own rule that only Plus stores can customise checkout. If in-checkout upsells are the reason you want the app, the bill is $399.99 a month on top of Shopify Plus itself; on every other plan the offers sit on product pages, in the cart and drawer, and after purchase.
Install from the Shopify App Store; the 7-day free trial starts on install and the plan is fixed by your Shopify plan. Seven days is short for an upsell test, so set up one offer on day one rather than exploring first: a cart or drawer offer on your best seller, or a post-purchase offer, which cannot cost you the original sale. Read the data access before you click Install.
The listing says the app views sensitive customer data plus device and activity data and the store owner's details, and views and edits customers, products, orders, discounts, store analytics and the Online Store. That fits an app that adds products to orders and writes discounts, but it is wide. Then measure before you add more. Note your add-to-cart and checkout completion rates before the first offer goes live and check them a week later.
One January 2026 review describes both rates falling by 70% after offers were implemented, blamed on a conflict with the store's code, so a before-and-after check is the cheapest insurance you have. Add offers one touchpoint at a time, and if something misbehaves, the listing's reviews show Bold's co-founder answering complaints personally, so ask for help early.
The Shopify App Store listing at https://apps.shopify.com/product-upsell, read in a headless browser on 2026-10-06: the four plans named after Shopify plans ($4.99, $24.99, $74.99, $399.99) with their feature lists and 7-day trials, the billing note (USD, every 30 days), the feature and category lists, the integrations (Checkout, Shopify POS, Shopify Admin, Bold Discounts, Bold Subscriptions, Google Analytics, Video Greet), the developer record (Bold, 200-1460 Chevrier Blvd, Winnipeg, Canada), the launch date of 17 April 2012, the data-access section, and the reviews tab (594 reviews at 4.4: 473 five-star, 54 four, 17 three, 9 two and 41 one); we read the newest page and every 1- and 2-star review.
We have not run Bold Upsell ourselves, and we found no independent test we could weigh.
Where a vendor publishes a price, its column shows the entry price we read and when; where it does not, the column says so rather than filling in a figure from elsewhere. We do not average them into a score.

The natural comparison is Selleasy — Selleasy is in our dossiers too, and it prices the opposite way. Read on 19 September 2026, its Shopify listing charges by your store's monthly order count: free up to 50 orders, $9 from 51 to 500, $19 to 1,000 and $29 above that, with a 30-day trial, and the vendor's own page adds a $49 Pro tier that includes checkout upsells for Shopify Plus stores. Bold Upsell ignores order count and follows your Shopify plan: $4.99 on Basic, $74.99 on Advanced, $399.99 on Plus. So a busy store on Shopify Basic is cheaper on Bold ($4.99 against $29), a quieter store on Advanced is cheaper on Selleasy, and a Plus store that wants checkout upsells pays $49 on Selleasy's Pro against $399.99 on Bold. Price both at your own Shopify plan and order count before you choose..
It depends on your Shopify plan, not on how much you use it. Read on 6 October 2026: $4.99 a month on Shopify Basic, $24.99 on Grow, $74.99 on Advanced and $399.99 on Plus, each with a 7-day free trial and billed in USD every 30 days. Nothing is charged per order or as a share of upsell revenue.
Only on Shopify Plus. On the listing read 6 October 2026, checkout offers appear on the $399.99 Plus card and on no other. On Basic, Grow and Advanced the offers run on product pages, in the cart and cart drawer, and after purchase.
Of 594 reviews, 41 are one-star and 9 two-star (read 6 October 2026). The recent ones describe add-to-cart and checkout rates dropping by 70% after offers were set up (January 2026), the app not working consistently with support replies taking days or weeks (edited October 2026), and the app stopping without notice (November 2025). The newest five-star reviews praise hands-on help from Bold's co-founder.
Check your platform and version specifically. Shopify support is close to universal in this category, while WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and headless setups vary a lot, and 'supported' sometimes means a generic API rather than a maintained app. A listing in your own platform's app store, with recent reviews there, is a better signal than the vendor's logo wall.
