Lowest paid entry price per account a month, billed monthly, in USD, among the 46 e-commerce growth apps we have researched (read between 2026-08-19 and 2026-10-02). Only tools priced in the same unit and on the same billing are compared — not a market survey, and cheapest is not best.

Four plans, priced not on orders or views but on the extra revenue the app generates in a month. Free covers up to $100 of generated revenue with product-page and post-purchase offers, analytics and translations. Starter is $9.99 a month for up to $500. Essential is $19.99 a month for up to $1,000 and, on the Shopify listing, is the first plan with cart-page offers.

Professional is $39.99 a month with no revenue limit. Each paid plan has a 14-day free trial. The vendor's own page names the top plan Plus, lists cart offers on Starter as well, and adds a 30-day money-back guarantee that the listing does not mention; where the two differ, the listing is the page you are billed from. Neither page explains how generated revenue is counted or what happens when a store passes its limit.

All charges are in USD, billed through Shopify every 30 days. Developer Essential Bundles & Upsells, with an address in Vilnius, Lithuania; the listing gives a launch date of 10 June 2024 and shows 2,405 reviews, nine of them at three stars or lower. Category context: E-commerce. Across the 33 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $19 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Essential Upsell & Cross Sell’s entry price of $9.99 a month sits below that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

The catch

A store whose upsells work moves up the ladder because they work: $500 on Starter, $1,000 on Essential, and only Professional at $39.99 a month has no limit. Neither the listing nor the vendor's page explains how that revenue is attributed to the app or what happens when a store passes its limit, so ask support before you rely on the free plan in a busy month. The ceiling is the reassuring part: the bill cannot go above $39.99 a month, however much the offers sell.

The two pricing pages do not agree on the cart. On the Shopify listing, cart-page offers start on Essential at $19.99; the vendor's own page lists them on Starter at $9.99 too. The cart drawer is where many stores want an upsell, so confirm in the app which plan unlocks it before you pick Starter. The free plan is a real plan, but it does not look like one at install.

A US merchant wrote in February 2026 that the app advertised a free plan and then pushed a free trial; the vendor replied that the free plan has a revenue limit and needs a Shopify approval step. Read the approval screen rather than closing it. The app asks for a lot of data. The listing says it needs to view and edit customers, products, orders, discounts and the online store.

Two US merchants dropped it to one star in 2024 and 2025 over permissions that covered customers' personal details and recent orders; the vendor answered that the access is for the performance analytics merchants asked for. If you keep a tight data policy, read the permission screen before you approve it. The rest of the criticism is about fit with a theme or a store setup. A French merchant uninstalled in November 2025 because widgets did not show on pages whose product handle had been translated; the vendor replied in February 2026 that product targeting now uses the product ID instead of the handle.

A UK merchant wrote in September 2025 that it did not work with their cart drawer. The positive reviews mostly praise support that fixed this kind of clash, such as a merchant in Romania whose cart offers broke the item list on a Halo theme and were fixed within a day in September 2026. What Essential Upsell & Cross Sell does

Shopify upsell and cross-sell app with frequently-bought-together blocks, product-page and cart-drawer offers, one-click post-purchase upsells, bundles, add-ons and automatic discounts, with plans tiered by the extra revenue the app attributes to its offers.

Essential Upsell & Cross Sell product

Pick the plan by upsell revenue, not by features

Start on the free plan to place offers on product pages and after checkout, and treat its $100 of generated revenue as a test of whether shoppers take the offers at all. Every paid plan has the same offer types except the cart, so the choice is mostly about how much extra revenue you expect a month: up to $500 on Starter at $9.99, up to $1,000 on Essential at $19.99, unlimited on Professional at $39.99.

If you want offers in the cart drawer, check which plan unlocks them before paying, because the Shopify listing and the vendor's page disagree about Starter. Use the 14-day trial on a paid plan to see how much revenue the app attributes to itself in a normal fortnight, and move to Professional once you would regularly pass $1,000, since above that point the bill no longer grows.

How to actually use Essential Upsell & Cross Sell

Install the app from the Shopify App Store and start on the free plan; approve the Shopify charge screen, which the vendor says the free plan also needs. Read the data permissions on that screen first, since the app asks for access to customers and orders. Begin with one offer type where shoppers already decide, such as a frequently-bought-together block or a one-click add-on on your best-selling product page, and add a post-purchase offer after checkout.

Turn on cart-drawer offers once you are on a plan that includes them, and check them in your own theme, because the critical reviews are mostly about clashes with a theme or a cart drawer. If you sell in several languages, test a translated product page. Watch the generated-revenue figure in the app's analytics during the first weeks to see which plan you will need. Charges come through your Shopify bill, and removing the app ends them.

This replaces the single order-volume ladder we recorded on 5 September 2026 ($34.99 for 0-500 orders, $54.99 for 501-1,000, $99.99 for 1,001-2,000); that ladder is on neither page any more.
The catch
Post-purchase upsells only move the needle with steady order volume and a sensible complementary-offer strategy — bolt it onto a store with little traffic and there's nothing to upsell.
Best for
Shopify stores with steady order volume that want to lift average order value with one-click post-purchase and checkout upsells

The natural comparison is AfterSell — AfterSell is the closest app in our own dossiers, and the two price on different things. On our reading of 27 September 2026, AfterSell charged by monthly order volume: its Post-Purchase plan started at $34.99 a month for 200 orders and its Pre-Purchase and Complete plans at $59.99 and $79.99, with each rising as orders grow. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell prices on the extra revenue it generates instead: free up to $100, then $9.99, $19.99 and an unlimited plan at $39.99 that covers product-page, cart and post-purchase offers together. A store with many orders and modest upsell revenue will usually pay less with Essential; AfterSell's own pages are worth reading if you want its checkout-focused offers..

Frequently asked questions

What does Essential Upsell & Cross Sell cost?

Free covers up to $100 a month of revenue generated by the app. Starter is $9.99 a month for up to $500, Essential $19.99 for up to $1,000, and Professional $39.99 with no limit. Paid plans have a 14-day free trial. Read on 2 October 2026.

Does the free plan include cart upsells?

No. The free plan covers product-page and post-purchase offers. On the Shopify listing, cart-page offers start on the $19.99 Essential plan; the vendor's own page also lists them on Starter, so check in the app.

What data does the app need?

Read and write access to customer, product, order and discount data and to the online store, according to the data-access section of the Shopify listing. The vendor explains the customer and order access as what its performance analytics run on.

What should I weigh before buying E-commerce software?

Check your platform and version specifically. Shopify support is close to universal in this category, while WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and headless setups vary a lot, and 'supported' sometimes means a generic API rather than a maintained app. A listing in your own platform's app store, with recent reviews there, is a better signal than the vendor's logo wall.
