Lowest paid entry price per account a month, billed monthly, in USD, among the 51 e-commerce growth apps we have researched (read between 2026-08-19 and 2026-10-06). Only tools priced in the same unit and on the same billing are compared — not a market survey, and cheapest is not best.

Three plans, each with a 14-day free trial, and the ladder is built on how many customer groups can see their own prices. Essential is $29 a month for 1 customer group, with storewide or product and variant discounts, unlimited quantity breaks, a customisable quantity-break grid, tax controls and manual customer tagging. Standard is $69 a month for up to 10 customer groups and adds automatic tagging by country or purchase history with an automatic email when a customer is tagged.

Complete is $129 a month for unlimited customer groups and adds advanced pricing rules, bulk CSV price import and export, the Shopify POS integration, premier support, expert setup and a service level agreement. There is no free plan. All charges are billed in USD, and recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

Category context: E-commerce. Across the 38 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $19 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Bold Custom Pricing’s entry price of $29 a month sits above that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

The catch

The reviews are split more sharply than the 4.4 suggests, with 58 of 538 at one star. The recent complaints are specific: price syncing that broke and 'wreaked havoc' (October 2026, fixed by support), crashes for three weeks with no answer from support (June 2026), incorrect pricing that cost more than the app (February 2026), a slower store and order numbers disturbed while support removed the app (February 2026), and ten days of changing cart quantities and wrong prices after migrating to the new version (April 2025).

We have not run the app ourselves; this dossier is read from the listing and its reviews.

What Bold Custom Pricing does

Shopify wholesale and B2B pricing app by Bold: separate prices for tagged customer groups, VIP and member tiers, quantity breaks and tiered pricing on one storefront, without Shopify Plus.

Each step up buys more customer groups

The question that sets your plan is how many price lists you run. One group, say a single wholesale tier or a VIP tier, fits Essential at $29 a month. A second group, such as wholesale plus VIP, already needs Standard at $69, and Standard also brings automatic tagging by country or purchase history, which saves tagging every new trade customer by hand. More than ten groups, or one price per trade account, needs Complete at $129.

Complete is also where the operational pieces live: bulk CSV price import and export, the Shopify POS integration, expert setup and an SLA. A store with a large catalogue that updates trade prices from a spreadsheet, or that sells wholesale at a counter through POS, will end up on Complete whatever its group count. What the ladder does not buy is reliability. The complaints in the reviews, about prices syncing wrongly and stores slowing down, come from merchants on every plan, and the premier support on Complete is the only plan-level answer to that.

How to actually use Bold Custom Pricing

Install from the Shopify App Store; the 14-day free trial runs on whichever plan you pick, so pick the one your group count needs. Install on a duplicate or unpublished theme first: a January 2024 review describes five days of failed installation on a new theme, and a 2025 review describes cart quantities and prices changing on their own for ten days after a migration to the new version of the app.

Then set up in this order: tag your trade or VIP customers (by hand on Essential, automatically by country or purchase history from Standard), create the price rule for that group, and log in as a tagged test customer to check that the price on the product page is the price that reaches checkout. A December 2023 review describes wholesale customers seeing retail prices at checkout, so that last check is the one that matters.

If you sell through Shopify POS, budget for Complete: the POS integration is listed on that plan only, and a January 2025 review says the app did not work with POS on its plan.

Where this section comes from: our research notes (120 words)

The Shopify App Store listing at https://apps.shopify.com/customer-pricing (titled Custom Pricing: Wholesale B2B), read in a headless browser on 2026-10-06: the three plans with their customer-group limits, features and 14-day trials, the billing note (USD, every 30 days), the feature lists, the integrations (Checkout, Shopify POS, Shopify Admin, Bold Bundles, Bold Discounts, Bold Loyalties, Bold Memberships, Bold Multi-Currency), the developer record (Bold, 200-1460 Chevrier Blvd, Winnipeg, Canada), the launch date of 19 March 2013, and the reviews tab (538 reviews at 4.4: 428 five-star, 35 four, 12 three, 5 two and 58 one); we read the newest page and the 1- and 2-star reviews.

We have not run Bold Custom Pricing ourselves, and we found no independent test we could weigh.

The catch
It is a feature ladder, not a volume ladder, and the features most people picture when they say wholesale sit high on it.
Best for
Shopify merchants who already have wholesale buyers and want them ordering from the same store as retail customers — custom price groups, a signup and approval flow, net terms and wholesale-only shipping rules — without moving up to Shopify Plus for native B2B.

The natural comparison is Wholesale Gorilla — Wholesale Gorilla is in our dossiers too. Read on 19 September 2026, it costs $34.95, $69.95 or $149.95 a month with a 21-day trial and no free plan, and it does not meter customer price groups: pricing rules and groups are unlimited on all three tiers, so you climb for features rather than volume. Bold Custom Pricing does the reverse and sells groups: 1 for $29, 10 for $69, unlimited for $129. A store with a single trade tier pays less on Bold; a store with several trade tiers on a small budget gets more groups for its money on Wholesale Gorilla's $34.95 Lite, provided its features cover the rest. Bold's own case is its wider family of apps (Memberships, Bundles, Discounts, Multi-Currency) and a launch in 2013..

Frequently asked questions

How much does Bold Custom Pricing cost?

Read on 6 October 2026: Essential $29 a month for 1 customer group, Standard $69 for up to 10 groups, Complete $129 for unlimited groups, each with a 14-day free trial and billed in USD every 30 days. There is no free plan.

Can I run wholesale pricing without Shopify Plus?

That is the app's main use in its reviews: logged-in trade customers see their own prices on the same storefront retail shoppers use, without Shopify Plus. A January 2026 review from a coffee wholesaler says exactly that. Check the price at checkout as a tagged test customer, though: a December 2023 review describes wholesale customers seeing retail prices there.

Does it work with Shopify POS?

Only on Complete at $129 a month, where the listing names the Shopify POS integration (read 6 October 2026). A January 2025 review says POS did not work with the app on its plan.

What should I weigh before buying E-commerce software?

Check your platform and version specifically. Shopify support is close to universal in this category, while WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and headless setups vary a lot, and 'supported' sometimes means a generic API rather than a maintained app. A listing in your own platform's app store, with recent reviews there, is a better signal than the vendor's logo wall.
