Bold Memberships charges for every member, every month: $0.13 each after the first 10, so a free loyalty tier with 10,000 customers costs about $1,300 a month, and the listing does not say whether free members count.

One plan, called Scale: free to install, then $0.13 per member per month. The first 10 members are free forever, the first 30 days are free, and the listing says there is no flat monthly base fee and no transaction fee. All charges are billed in USD. The listing does not define a member; we read it as each customer enrolled in one of your membership tiers, free tiers included, and that is worth confirming before you put a free tier in front of your whole customer list.
Paid tiers collect their fees through Stripe (Stripe is listed under 'Works with', and an October 2024 review says membership fees are refunded through Stripe), so Stripe's own processing fees come on top of the app bill. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.
Category context: E-commerce. Across the 36 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $19 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Bold Memberships’s entry price of $0.13 a month sits below that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

Paid tiers run through Stripe rather than Shopify's checkout; a January 2026 review notes that sign-ups do not appear as Shopify orders. The newest reviews are warm about support, but the 1- and 2-star reviews describe member tags vanishing and customers locked out (2021, 2022), members still charged after the app was deleted (2022), and a 2022 complaint about compatibility with modern themes. The data access is wide, including viewing sensitive customer data and editing orders and store credit.
We have not run the app ourselves; this dossier is read from the listing, Bold's product page and the reviews.
Shopify membership and loyalty app by Bold: free and paid tiers, store credit, loyalty points, member pricing and free shipping, gated products and checkout, Shopify POS sign-ups and Apple and Google Wallet cards.

There is nothing to upgrade to: one plan, priced per member. That makes the cost easy to model and easy to underestimate. At 100 members the app costs about $13 a month, at 1,000 members about $130, and at 10,000 members about $1,300 (a cent or so less each, because the first 10 are free). For a paid tier that is cheap: a $10-a-month membership pays the app's 13 cents many times over.
For a free loyalty tier it is the whole cost, and it scales with the size of your customer list rather than with what those members spend. If you plan to enrol every buyer automatically, work out the bill at your full customer count first. What the per-member price does buy is everything on the listing at once: free and paid tiers, store credit, loyalty points, gated products and checkout, Shopify POS sales and Apple and Google Wallet cards, with no transaction fee taken from the paid tiers.
Install from the Shopify App Store; the first 30 days are free and the first 10 members stay free after that. Bold's own product page offers free setup support with its memberships team, and the reviews we read lean heavily on that support, so book it rather than building alone. Read the data access before you click Install. The listing says the app views sensitive customer data plus device and activity data, and views and edits customers, products, orders, discounts, store credit, Shopify Payments, Shopify Functions and the Online Store.
That matches an app that tags members, applies credit and gates checkout, but it is wide. Then decide the structure: a free tier to reward loyalty, a paid tier that renews through Stripe, perks that switch on for customers of a subscription app, or a B2B tier for trade accounts. The listing names Checkout, customer accounts, Shopify POS, Shopify Flow, Bold Custom & VIP Pricing, Bold Subscriptions and Stripe as integrations.
Test two things before launch, from the reviews we read: that member access survives when you add new products and switch themes (older reviews from 2021 and 2022 describe member tags disappearing and customers locked out), and how cancellation works if you ever leave (a 2022 review says members kept being charged after the app was deleted).
The Shopify App Store listing at https://apps.shopify.com/recurring-memberships, read in a live browser on 2026-10-05: the single Scale plan ($0.13 per member per month, first 10 members free, 30 days free, no base fee, no transaction fee, billed in USD), the feature list, the integrations (Checkout, customer accounts, Shopify POS, Shopify Flow, Shopify Admin, Bold Custom & VIP Pricing, Bold Subscriptions, Stripe), the languages, the developer record (Bold, 200-1460 Chevrier Blvd, Winnipeg, Canada), the launch date of 31 August 2016, the data-access section, and the reviews tab (86 in total; we read the newest pages and every 1- and 2-star review).

The natural comparison is Bold Subscriptions — Bold Subscriptions is in our dossiers too, and Bold builds both; the Memberships listing names it as an integration. They price in opposite ways. Bold Subscriptions sells a product on a schedule and charges $24.99 to $74.99 a month plus a 0.9% to 2% fee on the orders it processes. Bold Memberships sells access and perks, charges $0.13 per member per month with no transaction fee, and takes paid-tier fees through Stripe. If what you sell repeats (coffee, refills, boxes), start with Subscriptions; if what you sell is a status (discounts, early access, member-only products), start with Memberships, and Bold's product page describes running them together, with perks that switch on when a customer subscribes..
Read on 5 October 2026: one plan at $0.13 per member per month, with the first 10 members free forever, the first 30 days free, no base fee and no transaction fee. That is about $13 a month at 100 members and about $130 at 1,000. Paid tiers run through Stripe, whose processing fees come on top.
The listing does not say, so ask Bold before you enrol your whole customer list in a free tier. If they count, a free loyalty tier costs 13 cents a month for every customer in it, whatever they spend.
The listing says it works with any subscription app and names Bold Subscriptions, and Bold's product page describes perks that unlock automatically when a customer subscribes. One January 2026 review notes that membership sign-ups do not show up as Shopify orders, so support questions about paid tiers are handled in the payment app rather than in Shopify.
Check your platform and version specifically. Shopify support is close to universal in this category, while WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and headless setups vary a lot, and 'supported' sometimes means a generic API rather than a maintained app. A listing in your own platform's app store, with recent reviews there, is a better signal than the vendor's logo wall.
