The session allowance is shared across all websites on a plan, and when it runs out tracking pauses until the monthly refill, so a traffic spike can end your recordings for the rest of the month.
small and mid-sized websites that want heatmaps, session replays, funnels and form analytics in one tool, with a free plan to try it on real traffic.
you run high-traffic sites well beyond 100,000 sessions a month, need more than 12 months of history, or cannot accept tracking pausing when the allowance runs out.

Four plans, priced by monthly sessions. Free is $0 forever: 500 sessions a month, 1 website, sessions up to 5 minutes and 1 month of data retention. Basic is $39 a month billed yearly or $47 billed monthly: 10,000 sessions, 3 websites, 10-minute sessions, 6 months of retention. Standard, marked Popular, is $78 yearly or $94 monthly: 50,000 sessions, 10 websites, 20-minute sessions, 9 months of retention.
Professional is $117 yearly or $140 monthly: 100,000 sessions, 25 websites, 30-minute sessions, 12 months of retention. The plan table lists click and scroll heatmaps, session replays, real-time data, move and attention heatmaps, funnels, surveys, form analytics, journey analytics, unlimited users and user permissions. The paid plans have a 14-day free trial without a card. The FAQ says the session allowance is shared across all websites on the plan and that tracking pauses when it runs out until the monthly refill, and that first-time annual subscribers can get a full refund within 14 days. Category context: Growth & Revenue. Across the 83 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is about $30 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). UserTrail’s entry price of $39 a month sits above that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

Lower plans also cap a single recording at 5 or 10 minutes and keep data for 1 or 6 months. UserTrail is a young product with little public track record, and monthly billing costs about 20% more than the yearly price. We have not used UserTrail ourselves.
Website behaviour analytics: heatmaps, session replays, funnels, form analytics, journeys and on-site surveys from one tracking script, with a free plan to start.
The plans differ in sessions, websites, how long a single session is recorded and how long the data is kept. The free plan gives 500 sessions a month on one site with 5-minute recordings and one month of history; Basic at $39 a month billed yearly jumps to 10,000 sessions, three sites and six months of history. Two FAQ answers matter more than the plan cards. The session allowance is shared across every website on the plan, so three sites on Basic split 10,000 sessions between them rather than getting 10,000 each.
And when the allowance is used up, tracking pauses until the next monthly refill. A traffic spike from a launch or a sale can therefore end your recordings for the rest of the month at exactly the moment you most want them. Monthly billing costs about 20% more: $47 against $39 on Basic, $94 against $78 on Standard, $140 against $117 on Professional. For a site with seasonal traffic, a month or two on monthly billing during a redesign can still be cheaper than a year up front.
Session length is a quieter limit. Free records 5 minutes per session and Basic 10, so long checkout or onboarding flows may be cut off on the lower plans; check that against the paths you want to study.
Start on the free plan, which needs no card: add your site, paste the tracking script and let it collect a week of real sessions. 500 sessions a month is enough to see whether heatmaps and replays show you something your analytics do not. Before you pick a paid plan, count sessions across all the sites you want to track, because the allowance is shared. If your busiest site alone would use most of it, the cheaper plan will pause tracking on the others.
Set up masking before you record real visitors. The home page says UserTrail can mask sensitive fields and exclude pages or elements; check that forms with personal or payment data are hidden in a few replays. Then build one funnel on the path that makes you money, such as sign-up or checkout, and watch the replays of people who dropped out at the worst step. That is the test of whether the tool earns its subscription.

The natural comparison is Crazy Egg — Crazy Egg is in our dossiers too and also sells heatmaps and recordings to site owners. UserTrail puts heatmaps, replays, funnels, form analytics, journeys and surveys on every paid plan and adds a free plan with 500 sessions a month; compare the two on how many sessions you really record a month and on what happens when the allowance runs out..
Read on 7 October 2026: Free $0 with 500 sessions a month; Basic $39 a month billed yearly or $47 monthly for 10,000 sessions; Standard $78 or $94 for 50,000; Professional $117 or $140 for 100,000.
The FAQ says tracking pauses until your next monthly refill. The allowance is shared across all websites on your plan, so one busy site can use up sessions meant for the others.
The FAQ says first-time annual subscribers get a 14-day guarantee: contact them within 14 days of signing up and the annual plan is refunded in full. The paid plans also have a 14-day free trial without a card.
It depends on whether you have the bottleneck it solves. Small teams get the most out of this category when one clear problem is already costing real hours or revenue; buying ahead of that just adds cost and another login. Price it against the hours or lost deals it removes, not against its feature list, and start on the smallest plan that covers the job.
