UniqodeUniqode Review (2026)Cancel and the Codes Stop

Growth & RevenueResearched assessment · by Daniel HaketUpdated 2026-09-01

The tier jumps are steep and a lot is gated: analytics are capped at 60 days on the entry plan, scan limits apply across all tiers, and custom domains sit behind higher pricing. It's a real QR platform — but overkill if you just want the occasional code. Throughout this review we weigh it against Bitly.

Best for: marketing teams that need dynamic QR codes with real analytics and enterprise compliance (SOC 2, GDPR, ISO 27001, optional HIPAA).

Pricing (2026)

✓ Pricing re-verified 12 Aug 2026

The plan cards are rendered in the browser and invisible to a non-browser client. So what we can hold Uniqode to is its own pricing FAQ, read on 12 August 2026. Static QR codes are free, and dynamic QR codes start at a stated minimum of $9/month. A custom domain is a Plus add-on at $2,000 per domain per year. Your first digital business card is free, with extra seats on a Team plan at $6 per user per month.

Billing is annual. Third-party listings quote a $5 entry tier; that is not what Uniqode's own page says, and we are not repeating a Lite or Pro figure we could not read at the source. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

What the price did

We capture Uniqode’s own pricing page every month and keep the figures, so this is our record of the page — not a forecast, and not someone else’s summary.

We capture uniqode.com/pricing every month. Between 7 July and 2 August 2026 the page text changed: a different checksum, sixteen characters longer. Every amount we could read on it stayed exactly where it was — the $9/month minimum for dynamic codes, the $2,000-per-domain-per-year custom domain add-on and the $6-per-user Team seat for digital business cards. Reading it again on 12 August 2026, those three were still unchanged. One limit on this record: the plan cards themselves render in the browser and never reach our capture, so it covers the figures Uniqode states in its own pricing FAQ and nothing beyond that.

What buyers report about Uniqode

Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026 (Product Hunt and Capterra read 12 August 2026). We have not run Uniqode ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.

What they praise
  • Dynamic codes mean you can change the destination without reprinting, and the analytics underneath are genuinely strong for the category — scan counts, unique users, hourly heatmaps, device and OS, GPS location.
  • One of the more complete options if you need branding, analytics and team access together.
  • The lone Capterra reviewer found it straightforward for a QR-based check-in setup and rated support at the top of the scale.
What they complain about
  • Every paid plan is annual-only. There is no monthly option at all, so the smallest commitment is a year paid up front — awkward for a one-off campaign or a seasonal test.
  • Scan history is deleted after 60 to 90 days depending on plan. If you need year-on-year comparison, export on a schedule.
  • The steps between tiers are steep: $5 for 3 codes, $15 for 50, $49 for 250, $99 for 500.
  • Card and code customisation is limited, with no artistic or AI-generated codes.
  • A Product Hunt reviewer describes the upgrade path as the real trap: hitting the 50-code ceiling, paying to upgrade, and then still being blocked from uploading without a further upgrade. They add that the company refunded quickly when asked.
  • The single Capterra reviewer calls it costly even while judging it worth the money — the same "good but expensive" verdict that shows up on the other platforms.

Where the ratings disagree. No real gap between platforms, but a thin base is worth naming: Product Hunt carries a couple of reviews and Capterra one (read 12 August 2026), so the consistency across sources is not the same thing as weight of evidence. G2 could not be read — it returned 403 to us.

Stop paying and your printed codes stop working

Uniqode's plan cards are rendered in the browser and still do not reach the page's own text — we opened it in a full browser on 22 August 2026 and the entire document contains four dollar figures, all of them from the FAQ. So we are holding Uniqode to what its own pricing FAQ says and repeating no third-party Lite or Pro figure we could not read at the source.

The tiers are named there: Starter, Lite, Pro, Plus and Business+. What that FAQ does say is more consequential than a price list. Start with the sentence that should decide this purchase for anyone printing anything: 'For your QR Codes to work, the account linked to them has to stay active.' Dynamic QR codes are a redirect that Uniqode operates, so cancelling does not downgrade you — it breaks every code you have already printed.

If those codes are on packaging, signage, a vehicle livery or a menu, the physical object outlives the subscription and stops working the month you stop paying. That is not a criticism of Uniqode specifically; it is how dynamic QR works everywhere. It is simply the thing to know before you commit to it on ten thousand printed boxes. Two more from the same FAQ. Scan limits reset annually, not monthly — so the allowance is a yearly budget, and a campaign that does well in February can exhaust the year.

And there is no overage rate at all: their answer to running low on scans is that you upgrade, paying the difference between plans. Those two facts compound. One successful campaign does not produce an overage charge you can absorb, it produces a permanent tier upgrade for the rest of the year. The third is a team trap. Starter, Lite and Pro are single-user plans. If more than one person needs access, you skip three tiers and land on Plus or Business+ — which is also where the custom domain add-on lives, at $2,000 per domain per year.

Against a stated $9-a-month minimum for dynamic codes ($108 a year), a branded domain costs eighteen times the entry plan. For most brands a custom domain is the entire reason a QR link looks trustworthy, so price that in early rather than discovering it at rollout. Billing is annual only. The FAQ states plainly that there are no monthly plans and that you cannot switch from annual to monthly. Everything is billed in USD, invoice billing is restricted to Business+, and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Against all that, the free tier is genuinely useful and the line is drawn honestly: static QR codes are free forever. If you never need to change a code's destination after printing and you do not need scan analytics, you never need to pay anyone. The moment you want to redirect a printed code — which is the actual reason dynamic QR exists — you are on the ladder above, with all of the conditions above attached.

Note too that analytics are capped at 60 days on the entry plan, which sits awkwardly with a medium whose whole advantage is that printed material stays in circulation for years.

We checked this price twice

Our monthly capture read this vendor's pricing page in July 2026 and again in August 2026, and the amounts were the same both times. We keep watching — the registry records what moves.

How to actually use Uniqode

Decide whether you need dynamic codes at all, because static ones are free forever. If the destination will never change and you do not need scan data, generate static codes and stop here — that is the honest answer for a large share of use cases. If you do need dynamic codes, understand the dependency before you print anything. Uniqode's own FAQ says the account has to stay active for your codes to work, so every printed code is tied to an ongoing subscription.

Budget it as a recurring cost for as long as the printed material is in circulation — which for packaging and signage is years, not months. Then size the scans before you pick a plan, because the allowance resets annually rather than monthly and there is no overage rate: the FAQ's answer to running out is that you upgrade and pay the difference. Estimate a successful campaign, not an average one.

Two things to check up front. If more than one person needs access, Starter, Lite and Pro are single-user — you will need Plus or Business+. And if you want a branded domain on your codes, it is a Plus add-on at $2,000 per domain per year, so decide that now rather than after the artwork is at the printer. Billing is annual only and in USD; there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The natural comparison is Bitly — the link-shortener that bolted QR on. Weigh it against Bitly on the job you actually need done.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest way into dynamic QR codes?

Uniqode's own pricing FAQ puts the floor at $9 a month (read 12 August 2026): static codes are free indefinitely, and paying starts the moment you want a code whose destination you can change later. You will see a $5 entry quoted on third-party listing sites — that is not what the vendor's own page says, so price it against the $9 figure and check what you are actually offered at checkout.

Can I pay monthly for a one-off campaign?

No. Every paid plan is annual, which reviewers on TrustRadius and OMR Reviews name as the main friction: the smallest commitment is a year paid up front, which is awkward for a seasonal test or a single event. Also budget for the data expiring — reviewers report scan history being deleted after 60 to 90 days depending on plan, so export on a schedule if you want year-on-year comparison.

Will one upgrade be enough?

Not necessarily, and this is the complaint worth reading before you buy. A reviewer on Product Hunt (read August 2026) describes hitting the 50-code ceiling, paying to upgrade, and then still being unable to upload without a further upgrade — though they note the company refunded quickly. The steps between tiers are steep and features sit behind them, so map what you need against the tier list rather than starting at the bottom and climbing.

What should I weigh before buying Growth & Revenue software?

It depends on whether you have the bottleneck it solves. Small teams get the most out of this category when one clear problem is already costing real hours or revenue; buying ahead of that just adds cost and another login. Price it against the hours or lost deals it removes, not against its feature list, and start on the smallest plan that covers the job.
