CiteRoute Review (2026)Free GEO Scans, AI-Bot Data From $79

By · Researched and written with an AI assistant · who does what

The GEO score is CiteRoute's own algorithm, and its terms say outright that it cannot guarantee citations or rankings.

Best for

founders and marketers who want to see whether AI crawlers visit their site and how ready their pages look for AI answers, and agencies that want white-label GEO reports for a handful of client sites.

Skip it if

you want proof of citations rather than a readiness score, you need more than one tracked site without paying agency prices, or you want a vendor with a long track record.

Four plans, billed monthly. Free costs nothing and includes 10 GEO scans a month, one monitored buyer prompt in GEO Radar, a two-domain competitor comparison, 3 watchlist domains, the agent.json studio, a basic score report and community support. Pro is $79 a month with a 14-day trial: unlimited scans, 10 monitored prompts, a five-way competitor benchmark, one verified site with the tracking tag and a dashboard of real AI bot and crawler visits, 20 watchlist domains, an API key for 500 requests a day, history charts and priority support.

Agency is $249 a month with a 14-day trial: 50 monitored prompts, 10 verified client sites, unlimited watchlist, white-label PDF reports, an embeddable badge and 10,000 API requests a day. Enterprise is custom. API calls beyond the daily plan limit are charged per call: $0.02 for a GEO score, $0.01 for a verification and $0.05 for AI-traffic data. The terms say Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record and handles VAT and sales tax, subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled, you keep access to the end of the paid month after cancelling, and a full refund can be requested within 14 days of the initial purchase. CiteRoute operates from Kigali, Rwanda, under Rwandan law. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

Category context: Marketing. Across the 24 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $29 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). CiteRoute’s entry price of $79 a month sits above that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

The catch

The revenue calculator on the home page runs on assumed rates that its footnote calls illustrative. It is a young product with a small public footprint: the home page counts 967+ domains evaluated and 2,043+ scans, and still lists Claude 3.5 among the engines it covers. Real AI-traffic data starts at $79 a month and covers one site. The company operates from Kigali under Rwandan law. We have not used CiteRoute ourselves.

What CiteRoute does

Generative engine optimisation tool that scores how ready a site is to be cited by AI answer engines, generates agent.json and llms.txt files, and logs AI crawler visits on verified sites; free plan plus paid tracking plans.

Free scores, Pro measures

The free plan is a scoring tool: 10 scans a month of any domain, one prompt in the radar and the agent.json and llms.txt generators. Those scores are CiteRoute's own algorithm, an opinion about how ready a site looks, not a measurement of whether AI engines actually cite you. Pro at $79 a month is where measurement starts. The tracking tag on one verified site records real visits from AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and Perplexity, and the radar watches 10 buyer prompts.

If you want evidence rather than a score, that is the plan; it covers one site only. Agency at $249 is for consultants: 10 client sites, 50 prompts and white-label reports, about $25 a site a month at full use, our arithmetic. Watch the API: plan keys have daily limits, and calls beyond them are billed per call, which can add up if you automate scans.

How to actually use CiteRoute

Run the free scanner on your own domain and two competitors first, and treat the score as a checklist of what CiteRoute looks for, not a forecast of citations. The terms themselves say rankings and citations are decided by the AI engines and that no result is guaranteed. If you want real data, start the 14-day Pro trial and install the tracking tag on day one, so the trial collects two weeks of AI crawler visits on your site.

That log is the most useful thing the product gives you. Ignore the revenue calculator on the home page when you decide: its footnote says the figures are illustrative projections built on assumed rates. If Pro does not prove itself, the terms allow a full refund within 14 days of your first purchase, requested by email to contact@citeroute.com.

Frequently asked questions

Does CiteRoute have a free plan?

Yes. Read on 13 October 2026, the Free plan includes 10 GEO scans a month, one monitored buyer prompt, a two-domain comparison, 3 watchlist domains and the agent.json studio. Real AI-crawler analytics on your own site start on Pro at $79 a month, which has a 14-day trial.

Can I get a refund from CiteRoute?

The terms of service, last updated 10 September 2026 and read 13 October 2026, offer a full refund within 14 calendar days of your initial subscription purchase, requested by email with your account email and receipt number. After cancelling you keep access until the end of the paid month.

Will CiteRoute get my site cited by ChatGPT or Perplexity?

It cannot promise that. Its own terms say rankings, citation frequency and indexing are decided by the AI engines and that CiteRoute does not guarantee specific results. What it offers is scoring, recommendations and, on paid plans, a log of AI crawler visits to your site.
