The meter is recommendation clicks, and the free plan's 50 a month runs out on almost any live store, with the app's branding shown until you pay.
Shopify stores that want related-product, upsell and frequently-bought-together recommendations on product pages and cart, with hand-picked control, at a fixed monthly price for a known click volume.
you want a usable free plan, you get far more than 10,000 recommendation clicks a month and need a published price for that, or you mainly want checkout upsells on a store that is not on Shopify Plus.

Lowest paid entry price per account a month, billed monthly, in USD, among the 52 e-commerce growth apps we have researched (read between 2026-08-19 and 2026-10-11). Only tools priced in the same unit and on the same billing are compared — not a market survey, and cheapest is not best.
Upsell & Cross Sell by Aheadworks is priced by recommendation clicks and by the number of store locations it may appear in. The Free Upsell Plan is $0: cross-sells and upsells in 2 locations, 50 upsell recommendation clicks a month, and Cross Sell branding on the widget. StartUp Upsell is $29.99 a month or $299 a year (the listing says save 17%): 3 locations, 2,500 recommendation clicks a month and no branding.
Small Store Upsell is $49.99 a month or $499 a year: all 8 locations and 5,000 clicks a month. MediumStore Upsell is $59.99 a month or $599 a year: the 8 locations plus custom pages and 10,000 clicks a month. Every paid plan has a 14-day free trial. The listing names the 8 locations as including product pages, cart, checkout, order status, thank-you and post-purchase pages.
The developer's own pricing page lists two further tiers, 50,000 clicks a month and unlimited clicks, but showed no amount for any tier when we read it, and on the 2,500-click plan it prints extra recommendation clicks at $0.012 per click. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.
Category context: Growth & Revenue. Across the 83 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is about $30 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

The full set of 8 placements, including checkout, thank-you and post-purchase pages, starts on the $49.99 plan; the $29.99 plan stops at 3. The developer page prices extra clicks on the entry plan at $0.012 each but showed no amounts for its higher tiers when we read it, and the listing does not say whether checkout placement needs Shopify Plus. We have not used the app ourselves.
Shopify upsell and cross-sell app by Aheadworks: hand-picked or automatic related-product recommendations, frequently-bought-together bundles and one-click add-ons on product pages, cart, checkout, thank-you and post-purchase pages, priced by recommendation clicks.

The plans do not unlock different recommendation logic; they raise two limits. One is how many places in the store the widget may appear: 2 on Free, 3 on the $29.99 StartUp plan, all 8 from the $49.99 Small Store plan. The other is how many shoppers may click a recommendation each month: 50, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000. Fifty clicks a month is enough to see the widget work on a quiet test store, not to run a shop on, and Free also shows the app's branding.
The real entry point is StartUp at $29.99 a month. Its developer page prices extra clicks on that plan at $0.012 each, so 1,000 clicks over the allowance would add about $12. If you want offers on checkout, thank-you and post-purchase pages as well as product page and cart, you are on Small Store at $49.99 regardless of traffic, because 3 locations is the StartUp ceiling. Paying yearly saves about two months on every tier ($299, $499, $599).
Use the 14-day trial on a paid plan to see your real click volume before choosing the year.
Install the app from the Shopify App Store and start the 14-day trial on the plan whose location count you need, not on Free: Free shows 2 locations and runs out after 50 clicks a month. Decide which placements matter first. Product page and cart recommendations are the core; checkout, order status, thank-you and post-purchase placements need the 8-location plans. Hand-pick recommendations for your best sellers, or let the app suggest related products and frequently-bought-together bundles, then watch the click count in the app during the trial.
Before relying on a checkout placement, ask Aheadworks support whether it works on your Shopify plan: other upsell apps in our dossiers say checkout upsells require Shopify Plus, which is Shopify's restriction, and this listing does not say.
Distilled from The Shopify App Store listing for Upsell & Cross Sell - AW (apps.shopify.com/cross-sell), read on 2026-10-11: the four plans, their locations and click allowances, yearly prices, trial, the feature list and the developer details (Aheadworks, launched 15 October 2015). Aheadworks' own pricing page at csell.io/pricing, read the same day: the 50,000-click and unlimited tiers and the $0.012 per extra click on the 2,500-click plan; it showed no tier amounts that day. Upsell & Cross Sell - AW is a Shoffi partner of ours. We have not used the app ourselves.
Where a vendor publishes a price, its column shows the entry price we read and when; where it does not, the column says so rather than filling in a figure from elsewhere. We do not average them into a score.
Both names above are affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. Neither changes what this table says.
The natural comparison is Selleasy — Selleasy is in our dossiers too and is metered differently: on our 19 September reading it charged by your store's total monthly orders, free under 50 and $29 above 1,000, with the same features at every step and checkout upsells only on a $49 Pro tier outside the App Store listing. Upsell & Cross Sell - AW charges by recommendation clicks and placements instead. A store with many orders but few clicks on recommendations pays less here; a store whose shoppers click a lot pays less on Selleasy. Count both numbers for your own store before choosing..
