The article quotas pinch if you publish at volume (overage docs bill each), and it's a research-and-optimization tool, not a magic ranking button — it speeds up briefs, it doesn't replace the writing or the backlinks. Throughout this review we weigh it against Surfer.

Summarised from the pricing notes below; the notes carry the conditions.
The headline figure is the yearly rate; paying month to month costs about 25% more, and both are shown on the page. Starter $39/mo billed yearly against $49/mo monthly: 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles and 50 audit pages a month, Content Guard watching 10 pages. Professional $103/mo yearly against $129/mo monthly: 3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles and 250 audit pages, extra seats $29/mo.
Scale $239/mo yearly against $299/mo monthly: 5 seats, up to 10 domains, 100 articles and 1,000 audit pages, Content Guard watching 300 pages, extra seats $29/mo. The trial is 7 days with no credit card. FraseCMS hosting is included free up to 100,000 page views a month; Basic at $19/mo on top of a paid plan raises that to 250,000, drops the Frase badge and lets the blog sit on your own domain or a subdirectory, and Pro is $99/mo at a million page views, with $1.00 and $0.50 per extra 1,000 page views and a spend cap set at the base price by default.
On Starter, Frase stops at the limit rather than billing you extra; on Professional and Scale you can switch on pay-as-you-go capacity, so there the sticker price is a floor rather than a ceiling: Professional adds $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page and $0.25 per AI prompt, Scale $4, $0.40 and $0.20. API, MCP and CLI requests are capped at 5,000, 20,000 and 50,000 a month on the three self-serve plans. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.
Category context: Growth & Revenue. Across the 83 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is about $30 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Frase’s entry price of $39 a month sits above that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →
Correction after re-checking: Corrected 3 October 2026. Starter is $39/mo billed yearly or $49/mo month to month, Professional $103/mo yearly or $129/mo month to month, and Scale $239/mo yearly or $299/mo month to month, with Enterprise on custom pricing; billing yearly saves 20% on every tier and the 7-day trial needs no credit card. Two things in our earlier note no longer hold: the trial no longer holds back auto-publish (Frase's FAQ now says you can let the agent publish on its own during the trial), and API access is no longer metered at 250, 1,000 and 3,000 requests a month — the pricing file now lists 5,000, 20,000 and 50,000 API, MCP and CLI requests on Starter, Professional and Scale. White-label reports and a branded client portal remain Enterprise-only.
We capture Frase’s own pricing page every month and keep the figures, so this is our record of the page — not a forecast, and not someone else’s summary.
Frase restructured its pricing between late 2025 and early 2026, and that move is still what most complaints are about — but it has settled since. Our captures of the pricing page in July and August 2026 carry identical figures ($39/$49, $103/$129, $239/$299, extra seats $29), and re-reading Frase's own machine-readable pricing file on 17 August 2026 returned exactly the same ladder. Three readings, no movement. Readings on 14 September and 3 October 2026 returned the same plan prices again; what moved by October was the packaging around them, with the trial now allowing autonomous publishing and API limits raised to 5,000, 20,000 and 50,000 requests a month.

Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We have not run Frase ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.
Pages read (August 2026): Trustpilot
Frase has no permanent free tier for the core product. The only free path is a 7-day trial, no credit card needed, that runs Professional's full feature set at reduced limits: 5 articles, 50 audit pages, 25 AI prompts, and up to 3 seats. Since our September reading the trial also lets the agent publish on its own, and on every paid plan it can auto-publish any content type once you switch it on.
That window is long enough to judge the research and optimization workflow, but too short to prove out Content Guard, which depends on Search Console history accumulating before decay becomes visible at all. Paying earns its keep once article volume is the binding constraint. Starter at $39/mo billed yearly, or $49/mo month to month, covers 10 articles and 50 audit pages on 1 seat and 1 site: workable for a solo operator, tight for anyone publishing weekly and revising afterwards.
Professional at $103/mo yearly, or $129/mo month to month, buys 40 articles, 250 audit pages and 5 sites, the tier shaped for multi-site and client work. Past the caps, Starter simply stops; Professional can switch on pay-as-you-go at $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page and $0.25 per AI prompt, and Scale at $4, $0.40 and $0.20, billed at the end of the cycle. Upgrading does not fix rankings.
Higher tiers raise caps and widen Content Guard coverage from 10 pages to 75 and then 300; they do not change the underlying scoring, and they do not make AI engines cite you.
Our monthly capture read this vendor's pricing page in July 2026 and again in August 2026, and the amounts were the same both times. We keep watching — the registry records what moves.
Frase's own onboarding documentation puts the whole setup at about five minutes and lays out a fixed order. Start at the site selector dropdown in the top left, choose Add Site, enter your domain, and let the initial crawl run; that crawl is what populates the Brand Hub's Profile, Competitors and Assets sections, so skipping it leaves later brand and internal-link suggestions thin. Then open Settings and connect Google Search Console under Workspace integrations, documented as taking about two minutes.
This is the step it is tempting to postpone and the one that bites: Content Opportunities and Content Guard stay empty until Search Console is attached, so a fresh account can look broken when it is merely unconnected. Agencies hit a harder wall here, because the documentation requires Owner-level access to the client's Search Console instance rather than plain read permission. Finish in Optimize, under Site Health, by starting a baseline crawl.
Only once that data has landed does the Opportunities tab surface priorities worth acting on.

The natural comparison is Surfer or Clearscope — other SEO content-optimization tools. Weigh it against Surfer on the job you actually need done.
Billed yearly: Starter $39, Professional $103 and Scale $239 a month; month to month those become $49, $129 and $299. Extra seats are $29 a month on the two upper plans. Those figures were identical in our July and August 2026 captures and again on 17 August, 14 September and 3 October 2026, so the restructuring people complain about has settled rather than being ongoing.
It depends on the plan, and Frase is unusually explicit about it. On Starter the account holds at the limit until your cycle resets or you upgrade, so no overage is possible. On Professional and Scale you can switch on pay-as-you-go capacity ($5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page and $0.25 per AI prompt on Professional; $4, $0.40 and $0.20 on Scale), which means the sticker price there is a floor rather than a cap. Decide deliberately which behaviour you want.
This is a question we see asked and the honest answer is uncomfortable. AppSumo lifetime-deal holders report being moved from promised unlimited use to a capped word allowance, and Trustpilot reviewers report being migrated to the new pricing with little warning. If you hold one, check what your account actually allows today rather than what the deal promised — and price the paid plans as the realistic fallback.
It depends on whether you have the bottleneck it solves. Small teams get the most out of this category when one clear problem is already costing real hours or revenue; buying ahead of that just adds cost and another login. Price it against the hours or lost deals it removes, not against its feature list, and start on the smallest plan that covers the job.
