Lowest paid entry price per account a month, billed monthly, in USD, among the 44 e-commerce growth apps we have researched (read between 2026-08-19 and 2026-10-01). Only tools priced in the same unit and on the same billing are compared — not a market survey, and cheapest is not best.
Four tiers, every amount unchanged since 22 August 2026, and the meter is still the whole decision: it counts loyalty-influenced orders — repeat sales and referrals — rather than every order your store takes, which the plan text states outright. Free covers up to 250 of those and is unusually complete: the point program, VIP tiers, a referral program, twelve-plus ways to earn points, product, cart, popup and account placements, built-in email notifications with Klaviyo, and discount, gift, shipping and credit rewards.
Starter is $10 a month for up to 500, adding a dedicated loyalty landing page, full customisation, Shopify Flow, POS support for in-store loyalty and 24/7 human support. Essential is $24 for up to 1,500, adding loyalty status on the customer orders and profile pages and points in product cards. Growth is $79 for unlimited loyalty orders, with API integrations on request, white-glove onboarding and priority support.
Paid plans carry a 14-day free trial. Charges are in USD and recur every 30 days. Developer Essential Apps. The listing works with Checkout, Customer accounts, Shopify POS, Shopify Flow, Shopify Admin, Judge.me, Klaviyo, Omnisend, Point of Sale and Shopify's native store credit, and names twenty interface languages while a feature bullet on the same page claims 180+ — the vendor's own FAQ (essential-apps.com/loyalty, read 19 Sep 2026) reconciles those two: the twenty are the languages the app's own interface ships in, and the 180+ covers translating the storefront-facing text into any language you sell in.
Nothing on the listing says what happens when a plan's order cap is passed; the same vendor FAQ does: you are upgraded in place to the next tier, there is no per-order overage fee, and $79 a month is the ceiling — unlimited loyalty orders, everything included. So the worst case for a store that outgrows Free is the $79 tier, not a surprise bill.
The review record has moved: 482 reviews at 5.0, up from 438 in August, distributed 473 five-star, 8 four-star, none at three or two, and 1 one-star. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.
Category context: Growth & Revenue. Across the 82 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is about $29 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Essential Loyalty’s entry price of $10 a month sits below that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

The meter is honest — loyalty-influenced orders, not all orders — and that is genuinely in your favour, but it also means you cannot work out your tier from your order count. A store doing 3,000 orders a month with little repeat business may sit on Free; one doing 800 with a loyal base may not. Measure your repeat and referral orders for a month before you choose. The second is an oddity on the listing itself.
The free plan advertises an 'Advanced loyalty point program' while Starter at $10 advertises a 'Free loyalty point program', which read literally means the paid tier offers less on that line. It is almost certainly a labelling slip rather than a real downgrade, but it is the kind of line worth confirming with support before you upgrade for it.
Shopify loyalty and rewards app metered on loyalty-influenced orders rather than total orders, with VIP tiers and referrals on the free plan.

Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We have not run Essential Loyalty ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.
Where the ratings disagree. 439 reviews averaging 5.0, with 98% at five stars and essentially no middle — but the tenures are the thing to look at. The praise is written at 42 minutes, one hour, two hours, six days, seven days, fifteen days. Those are reviews about an install that went smoothly, not about a loyalty programme that brought anyone back. That gap matters more here than in most categories, because the plan meter counts loyalty-influenced orders: you cannot pick a tier until you know your own repeat and referral volume, and almost nobody in this review record had been running long enough to have that number when they wrote.
Pages read (August 2026): Shopify App Store
Work out the cost per loyalty order and the ladder reads differently than the monthly prices suggest. Starter is $10 for 500, which is two cents an order. Essential is $24 for 1,500, which is one and a half cents. So the middle tier is cheaper per order than the one below it, and the step up pays for itself the moment you pass roughly 500 loyalty-influenced orders a month.
But volume is often not what moves you. Three things sit behind the $10 line regardless of how small you are: the dedicated loyalty landing page, full customisation, and POS support for in-store loyalty. If you sell in a shop as well as online, you are on Starter at any volume, and the 250 free orders are beside the point. The top step is the one to think about hardest.
Growth is $79 against Essential's $24, and what it buys is the removal of a ceiling plus onboarding and API access on request. At 1,500 loyalty orders a month you are a substantial store, so the question is not whether $55 is affordable but whether you need the API. If you do not, the honest move is to stay on Essential until the cap actually bites.
Start on Free and do not choose a tier for at least a month. The meter counts loyalty-influenced orders, so the only number that decides your plan is one you do not have yet: how many of your orders are repeat purchases or referrals. Running free for a month produces it. While that runs, set up the parts that make the programme work rather than the ones that make it look complete.
Twelve-plus earning rules are available, but a programme that rewards a signup, a purchase and a review covers most of the value, and every extra rule is another thing to explain. The placements matter more than the rules: product page, cart, popup and account are all on Free, and the cart placement is where points turn into a second order. If you sell in a shop as well as online, skip the deliberation.
POS support sits behind the $10 line, so in-store loyalty puts you on Starter at any volume, and the sooner both channels feed the same points balance the sooner the programme means anything to a customer standing at your counter.
Distilled from apps.shopify.com/essential-loyalty-rewards-program — plan cards and their own plan text, the Languages and Works with fields, developer details and the review distribution. First read 22 August 2026, re-read 18 September 2026.
Yes, and that is unusual enough to say plainly. Read on 18 September 2026, the free tier carries the point program, VIP tiers, a referral program, twelve-plus ways to earn points, the product, cart, popup and account placements, built-in email notifications with Klaviyo, and rewards paid as discounts, gifts, shipping or store credit. What the $10 Starter tier adds is not the programme but its presentation and its reach: a dedicated loyalty landing page, full customisation, Shopify Flow and POS support for selling in person. So a web-only store under 250 loyalty-influenced orders a month is not running a crippled version of this app, it is running the app. The two reasons to leave Free are a shop counter, where POS puts you on Starter at any volume, and wanting the programme to look like part of your brand rather than a bolted-on widget.
The listing does not say, and we looked for it. The plan blocks name their ceilings — 250 on Free, 500 on Starter, 1,500 on Essential, unlimited on Growth — but as read on 18 September 2026 the page carries no overage rate, no per-order charge above the cap and no description of what the app does when you cross one. The only nearby wording is Shopify's standard footer line that recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days, which is printed on every listing and tells you nothing specific here. Two possibilities sit behind that silence and they are very different: the programme quietly stops earning points for further orders, or you are billed for them. Ask support which it is before you plan a peak season on a tier you expect to run close to, because the answer decides whether a busy November costs you money or costs your customers their points.
Two numbers sit on the same page, and only one of them is a listing attribute. A feature bullet claims 180+ languages. Shopify's own Languages field, which is the part the App Store fills in rather than the developer's marketing copy, names twenty: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, both Portuguese variants, Czech, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Swedish, Thai, both Chinese variants, Turkish and Dutch. The likeliest reading is that twenty is the admin and default widget coverage while 180+ refers to text you can translate yourself, but the page does not reconcile them. If your storefront runs in a language outside that list of twenty, treat the widget copy as something you will be translating by hand and ask the developer to confirm before you buy.
It depends on whether you have the bottleneck it solves. Small teams get the most out of this category when one clear problem is already costing real hours or revenue; buying ahead of that just adds cost and another login. Price it against the hours or lost deals it removes, not against its feature list, and start on the smallest plan that covers the job.
