Tested by our team on 21 October 2026 on the free Starter plan of RGE Studio (the Beefree builder under its name since 14 May 2026): Daan created the account and our AI assistant ran the test in Daan's browser. We built one blank email with a title, three lines of text and a button in two columns, checked the mobile view and opened the HTML export.
How we tested
- Opened a blank email and recorded the Starter plan
- Checked the canvas settings and dragged in a two-column row
- Inserted a title, paragraph and linked button
- Switched the email editor to mobile mode
- Examined the integration, HTML and PDF export choices
- Displayed the HTML and checked its text, link and mobile rules
- Opened edit history and inspected domain and merge-tag settings
- Every Starter design carries a fixed 'Designed with RGE Studio' footer; it was already in the blank email when the editor opened.
- The export screen said '6 exports left — Limit will reset on the 1st of the month', with 'Upgrade for unlimited'. PDF export and 'Minify the HTML code' are locked on Starter.
- Only showing the HTML code counts as an export: after 'Show and copy HTML' the counter went from 6 to 5. The screen warns first: 'One of your available exports will be used'. The export dialog also warns that 'Exporting HTML with hosted images may add CDN charges'; we did not test or measure those charges.

Sold as RGE Studio since the 14 May 2026 rebrand. Starter free — up to 10 designs, 6 exports/mo, landing-page builder, custom subdomain, 20GB/mo image traffic, unlimited users but no roles or permissions. Professional $25/mo billed yearly ($30/mo monthly) — unlimited designs and folders, unlimited reusable blocks, 2 editing users plus 4 view-only, AI writing assistant. Business $134/mo billed yearly ($160/mo monthly) — 2 editing users plus 10 view-only, 2 workspaces, approval workflows, advanced brand controls, QA assistant.
Enterprise: custom, quoted by sales. The free trial is 15 days on the Business plan. The embeddable Beefree SDK is a separate product on its own price list (developers.beefree.io) and is not covered by these numbers. Every tier and both billing rates stood unchanged on reallygoodemails.com/pricing between our readings on 21 July, 2 August, 10 September and 13 October 2026. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

Across the 83 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $29 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). What the pricing page doesn’t say
Everyone else lands in view-only slots — four on Professional, ten on Business — or an Enterprise quote. The free Starter is the odd one out: unlimited users, but with no roles or permissions at all. Exports are metered at six a month, rather than the unlimited free tier its old reputation suggests, and in our test on 21 October 2026 merely showing the HTML code used one of them (6 left became 5).
And the naming is a live tripwire. Since 14 May 2026 the builder is RGE Studio at reallygoodemails.com, while Beefree remains the company name and the name of the separate developer SDK. So check which product a plan or invoice actually refers to. It is purely a creation environment that never sends, so it always sits on top of your ESP. Worth it when the ESP's native editor is the bottleneck — agencies, multi-brand teams, ESP migrations — and duplicated effort when it isn't.

What Beefree does
RGE Studio (formerly Beefree — renamed 14 May 2026): drag-and-drop email and landing-page design. Build responsive, on-brand emails fast and export clean HTML to any major ESP, no coding required. Beefree remains the company name and the name of its separate developer SDK; the builder itself now lives under reallygoodemails.com.

Themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We tested Beefree ourselves on 2026-10-21, but one test is a narrow sample, so here is what other buyers report. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.
- • You design here and export to whichever ESP you use — Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign and 20+ others. That decoupling is the reason to use it.
- • Reusable content blocks, live collaboration and a large template library, with a genuine free tier.
- • The generated HTML does not reliably stay under Gmail's 102 KB clipping limit, particularly on image-heavy templates or emails with many blocks. Check your send size before a big campaign.
- • The free Starter tier caps at 10 designs and 6 exports a month, which is a demo rather than a working plan.
- • The collaboration features that justify paying sit on the higher tiers. Note that these reviews predate the RGE Studio rebrand and describe a Freelancer/Team ladder that no longer exists: read on 10 September 2026 the plans are Starter $0, Professional $25 a month billed yearly ($30 monthly), Business $134 ($160) and Enterprise on request.
When the paid plan is worth it
The pricing page lists Starter at $0, Professional at $30/mo ($25 billed yearly), Business at $160/mo ($134 billed yearly) and Enterprise on request. Starter caps you at 10 designs, 3 custom templates and 6 exports a month, and stamps a "Designed with RGE Studio" footer on every design. So Professional pays back quickly for anyone shipping more than a few emails a month. The steepest jump is Professional to Business, $30 to $160, and it buys co-editing, a custom domain on published pages, four simultaneous review requests per workspace, 10 HTML imports a month instead of 4, and 1 TB of CDN traffic instead of 250 GB.
That is mostly an approval-and-governance purchase; the builder is the same, with one exception low in the table — multilingual designs run one primary language plus three additional on Professional and plus twenty-four on Business, so more than four languages pushes you up the ladder by translation, not workflow. Upgrading does not buy seats: both paid tiers include 2, and extras cost $15 a month on Professional and $35 on Business ($150 and $350 a year).
Nor does any tier send email — RGE Studio builds and exports, so an ESP stays a separate bill.
Our monthly capture read this vendor's pricing page every month from July 2026 to October 2026, and the amounts were the same all 4 times, including $25, $30, $134 and $160 from the pricing above. We keep watching — the registry records what moves.
What we found running Beefree ourselves
The first findings are at the top of this page. The rest:
- The HTML was 11 KB ('HTML size: 11KB', 11,122 characters) and contained our title, the three sentences and the button URL exactly as entered, plus a mobile rule at 620 pixels.
- In the mobile view the two columns stacked on their own, text above the button, and width and font size can be set separately for mobile.
- Edits were saved automatically ('Saved!'), and the history icon listed every change with its time, also on Starter. A custom domain asks for an upgrade; a custom subdomain is allowed.

How to actually use Beefree
The vendor docs describe a short path: log in, land on the Projects page, click Create new. Then choose a blank email, a template from a catalog of 1,600+ templates, a page, or a folder — folders prompt Starter users to upgrade. After saving, the details page is where you send a test or export via connector, raw HTML, ZIP or PDF. Starting a Professional or Business trial is a six-step sequence from the Subscription page and needs no payment details.

Common Beefree setup mistakes
Where Beefree setups actually go wrong, and what it costs you when they do. Same sources as the setup notes above.
The friction comes later.
- Publishing pages on your own domain is Business-and-up.
- It needs a CNAME pointing to bdn.beefree.io and, if you run a CAA record, an entry allowing letsencrypt.org.
- After that the domain sits pending with no timeline the docs will commit to, and unconfirmed requests are deleted after 15 days.
- Migration is rationed too: 4 HTML imports a month on Professional, 10 on Business, 1 MB per file, with background images, dividers and menus unsupported.
- And Unlayer JSON conversion is a manual support-ticket service.
- In our own test of Starter on 21 October 2026 the 'Designed with RGE Studio' footer was in the blank email from the start, and 'Show and copy HTML' counted as one of the six monthly exports, so open the code once, when the design is finished.
The natural comparison is Stripo or your ESP's own editor — Stripo is the head-on builder rival — compare template depth, export connectors into YOUR sending stack, and how many real editing seats each plan actually gives you.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to emails I already sent if I cancel?
Their images can break. RGE Studio's help article 'What happens if I cancel my subscription?' (read 13 October 2026) says that on the cancellation date users can no longer log in, templates and designs are removed, and images hosted by RGE Studio stop loading, including hosted images exported through a connector. Paid plans stay active to the end of the billing period, and a cancelled account cannot be recovered. If those emails are still in use, export them again with the ZIP export, which bundles images and HTML; or downgrade to the free Starter instead, where hosted images stay available.
What do I keep if I drop to Starter or Professional?
Per 'How to Downgrade' (read 13 October 2026): on Starter you keep your 10 most recently edited designs and the rest are frozen until you upgrade again; every user keeps their account but all become Admins, because Starter has no roles. Moving from Business to Professional means one workspace, so designs are consolidated into a single workspace (automatically, or by you beforehand) and every user then sees all content. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
